Vision problems due to mental stress

Stressful situations are unfortunately common in the State of Israel.

Recently, we have gone through quite a few global and political hardships, such as the coronavirus, extreme economic changes, and political unrest.

The Iron Sword War brought great distress to all of us. At least 70% of my patients mention in one way or another during the conversation their mental distress due to the war and I detect avoidance, lack of motivation and even confusion and indecision.

For people with visual impairments, who often cannot receive information and developments clearly and immediately, the distress is even greater. The disruption of daily routines and routines can increase the feeling of vulnerability. These people need emotional support and special attention to their specific needs to reduce the impact of the crisis on their quality of life.

A sense of competence and control over small things provides a kind of routine. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to continue to engage in reading, solving crossword puzzles, watching television, and leisure activities such as creating, working on the computer, playing sports, and getting out of the house.

With the help of special aids, it is possible to allow the visually impaired to be connected to reality and know what is happening around them firsthand, using the media provided by telephone, computer, television, newspapers, and not be fed knowledge from a second source. To allow them to operate in the environment close to their home with safe walking and vision.

It is precisely during this period that we must work towards a pleasant leisure routine and provide a visually impaired person with all possible options for this.
